Summary of Position

It’s Time Texas is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Vice President of Development to lead fundraising efforts. Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, this person’s primary responsibility is to raise funds on behalf of the organization. He or she will work with senior leadership and the board of directors to set and meet revenue targets and is responsible for developing effective strategies that enable the organization to secure contributions from donors. This starts with creating a diversification strategy that defines a roadmap for growing the organization’s unrestricted revenue. This person is responsible for research and prospecting potential donors; donor cultivation, solicitation, management, and stewardship; proposal development; contract negotiation, development and execution; and management of recognition and benefits related to donor commitments. The Vice President of Development is responsible for working with corporations to support the mission of It’s Time Texas through program support, philanthropic support, cause marketing, and sponsorships.

Duties and Responsibilities

Partner Cultivation, Solicitation & Stewardship:

  •  Lead the development department’s annual plan, including goal setting, strategy identification, benchmarking and evaluation of revenue generation strategies
  • Maintain the organization’s donor information in the CRM system
  • Play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies that increase stakeholder engagement with programs, initiatives, and events, as well as the organization overall to maximize impact and donor base
  • Develop and update donor communications and sales tools
  • Organize, manage and coordinate fundraising events necessary to promote the mission locally/regionally for the purpose of advancing the organization’s financial success
  • Oversee execution of recognition and benefits related to corporate partner commitments including activation, signage, online and offline communication channels, and collateral materials
  • Develop a corporate giving strategy that can be measured and quantified to meet fundraising goals
  • Create sponsorship activation plans to ensure all sponsorship deliverables are fulfilled
  • Manage donor strategy and analysis with both an internal and external lens
  • Lead board members, senior leadership and key staff in cultivation of fundraising leads/opportunities
  • Solicit, cultivate, secure, and steward corporate donations and investments
  • Develop proposals and budgets and deliver presentations via email, phone, and in person

Leadership, Administration, & Supervision:

  •  Model behavior that is consistent with the organizational culture
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of development-related projects, including supervising development and cross-functional staff
  • Coordinate cross-project and cross-team activities that maximize organizational impact and revenue generation
  • Provide thought leadership to elevate the team’s potential and thinking
  • Hold team members accountable for performance and develop corrective action plans as needed
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and ethical principles/standards of fundraising professionals
  • Foster a mindset within It’s Time Texas that fundraising is an organizational effort, creating a culture of philanthropy
  • Participate in organizational strategic planning
  • Develop and manage the development department’s budget
  • Provide account briefings and reporting on fundraising activities on a regular basis

Research & Prospecting:

  • Search and secure opportunities for the organization’s leaders to speak at public events involving high profile members of the community and business world
  • Research and identify prospective partners, corporate donors, and high net worth individuals passionate about the mission
  • Synthesize and summarize opportunity and prospect information clearly and concisely for senior leadership and others involved in development-related activities
  • Help leadership identify and address organizational development issues that challenge and support the organization’s ability to attract and retain donors

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business management, nonprofit administration, or related field is required. Eight (8) plus years’ experience in sales, fundraising, development, and supervision required. CFRE credential preferred
