The Staff Accountant role assists in maintaining the integrity of accounting information by verifying, recording, consolidating, and inputting transactions in accordance with GAAP, CCD policies and procedures. Preparing and recording assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses will be required daily; account reconciliations will be performed and completed monthly.


  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations
  • Review monthly financial statement discrepancies from Directors and resolve on a timely basis
  • Serve as backup for payroll processing
  • Endowment investments entries and prepare investment walk forward
  • Reconcile development revenue to the financials monthly
  • Review revenue entries and work closely with development team
  • Reconcile subledgers to the general ledger; conduct regular ledger maintenance
  • Assist in monthly and year-end close process and prepare annual audit schedules
  • Prepares federal grants on a timely basis
  • Work with volunteers in your programs to ensure a positive experience for the clients we serve and the volunteer. This may include some elements of supervision, training, and feedback on performance for some volunteers in your program, depending on the project at hand.
  • Other accounting duties


  • Evolve and develop accounting policy, procedures and processes as needed.
  • Assist in special projects as necessary
  • Update professional knowledge by attending classes, reading accounting publications, and participating in workshops
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required (Master’s preferred)
  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • 3-5 years’ experience in accounting
  • Not-for-profit accounting experience required
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel required
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills


  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Strong computer systems skills, including proficiency in business and accounting computer systems, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Must possess high initiative and be detail oriented
  • Strong knowledge of not-for-profit revenue streams
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to meet hard deadlines
  • Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations for nonprofit financial record keeping and reporting especially regarding grant and other donor requirements
  • Knowledge and experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge/Financial Edge required

Pay: $50,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year depending on experience’
