PHILANTHROPY MANAGER, PARTNERSHIP ENGAGEMENT

DEPARTMENT: External Affairs

REPORTS TO: Philanthropy Director of Partnership Engagement

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

HOURS: Full-time, standard workweek with occasional nights and weekends.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum four (4) years successful experience with nonprofit, human services or government organization; volunteer, fundraising or community engagement experience preferred

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Communication, English,  Creative Writing, Journalism, Public Administration or related field

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Able to lift up to 30lbs., able to work part or all of a shift sitting, standing and walking, able to safely operate office machinery.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Professional business setting.

POSITION SUMMARY

Promise House seeks an experienced nonprofit professional to serve as its Philanthropy Manager, Partnership Engagement. The Philanthropy Manager, Partnership Engagement, will work toward creating and sustaining long lasting, meaningful strategic relationships and managing the performance of key programs to grow the partnership engagement pipeline in support of Promise House’s vision and mission.

Reporting to the Philanthropy Director of Partnership Engagement, s/he will be responsible for managing the day to day work of Promise House’ nonprofit partner engagement activities (volunteer events, sponsorship activation and constituent marketing communications). S/he will also provide support to Promise House’ signature event initiatives Promise to Care and the Annual Golf Tournament, as well as other annual events. S/he will also collaborate with the full External Affairs and Programs teams to support ongoing visioning and strategic planning for Promise House’s strategic philanthropy goals. The Partnership Engagement Team (Director, Manager and Coordinator) will work together to the overall engagement of corporate, community and faith partners expanding partnership engagement opportunities and ensuring that activity supports the volunteer needs of the agency’s programs.

Roles and Responsibilities

Program Development and Management 

  • Work with Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) and Philanthropy Director, Strategic Partnerships to develop a strategic plan for how to build and enhance the SVP Denver Partner and Investee community.
  • Supports CPO and Philanthropy Director and in assessing and iterating upon Promise House’s partner engagement strategic direction.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and colleagues to maximize available resources and drive outcomes.
  • Works with Administration to develop a system of volunteer benefits and recognition program.
  • Supports mobilizing internal resources when needed and holding partners accountable when needed.
  • Identifies ways to engage and deepen relationships with partners.
  • Consults with other NPOs and professional development organizations to determine best practices and help update Promise House’s strategies.

Partner Membership and Engagement

  • Act as a Partner “concierge” to learn about partner business/organization philanthropic, priorities, skill-sets and volunteer interests. Match partners to projects that fit these needs. Ensure partners are engaged in a way that is meaningful to them.
  • Act as the overall program manager, keeping an eye on all projects and clearing roadblocks when necessary.
  • Support development and execution of programs in partnership with key internal partners.
  • Support prospecting, recruitment and onboarding of new partners.
  • Assist with event design, planning (including developing event marketing + communications) and logistics.
  • Attends appropriate Community Impact functions and community events as required, serving as a representative of United Way NCA.
  • Develop and execute customized strategies that increase engagement of companies and donors throughout the year
  • Plan and manage partner engagement and educational events including open house, CEO Tours, lunch and learns, and other educational activities, with the support of the Partnership Coordinator and Philanthropy Director, including operations, coordination, execution of dates, location, speakers, and programming

Partner Marketing and Communication

  • In conjunction with the Development Manager, create social media content and manage social media messaging to align with Partner engagement strategy contributing to the department marketing content calendar
  • Assist with Promise House events, managing individual engagement and creating follow-up plans to steward event attendees focused on moving these prospects up the donor pyramid

Operational Support

  • Utilize Raisers Edge to add/update records and reports.
  • Assist with website and social media updates.
  • Maintain/update knowledge repository on the agency server and other cloud service as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Develop presentations and content for internal and external consumption.

Staff leadership

  • Provide direct supervision of the Partnerships Coordinator, supporting and coaching direct and ensuring employees understand their assigned roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist with additional responsibilities as requested

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and exceptional presentation skills.
  • Able to handle ambiguity and nuance.
  • Excellent project management skills, experience with program development, community outreach and engagement is a plus.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard computer and software skills (i.e., electronic mail, word processing, database development, project management, internet usage, etc.) required.
  • A strong understanding of contact management systems and detailed reports.
  • High level of responsibility, accountability and confidentiality.
  • Strategic, outcomes-oriented mindset.

  • Previous experience managing programs/projects
  • Previous experience with relationship/partnership management
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a community setting with diverse populations, including community groups, elected and non-elected policy makers, businesses, and volunteers
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Travel around the DFW Metroplex area for business purposes is required.  Must possess a reliable automobile or have access to reliable transportation.
  • Valid Driver’s license and verification of insurance.
