Position Summary

We’re looking for an outgoing, Spanish-speaking individual with a passion for connecting individuals and families to mental health and addiction information and resources. This person will lead the development of the Foundation’s Hispanic outreach to improve access to mental health care for underserved Latino and Spanish-speaking families.

Mental Health Resources Responsibilities

  • Identify mental health and addiction resources in North Texas
  • Recruit and engage providers to register for the HereForTexas.com provider database
  • Respond to incoming calls, online requests, and Facebook chat requesting resources
  • Determine caller needs for mental health and addiction services by reviewing navigation line call records and collaborating with volunteers and staff
  • Provide individuals with information and education on mental health resources in their community that are tailored to their specific needs
  • Provide volunteer support and supervision, including organizing navigator meetings, helping to assess for safety risk, and providing crisis intervention when needed

Hispanic Outreach Responsibilities

Hispanic outreach is an exciting new focus area to Grant Halliburton Foundation. The right person for this position brings ideas to the table and can implement those ideas from start to finish. Responsibilities for Hispanic outreach include:

  • Identify and connect with Spanish-speaking mental health providers in DFW, which includes attending networking events and promoting our services at community events targeted at Latino/Hispanic communities
  • Answer Spanish calls on the Here For Texas Mental Health Navigation Line, create and translate emails to Spanish, and support our Spanish-speaking volunteers
  • Create Spanish language and culturally appropriate connect for HereForTexas.com/español and social media
  • Work with the Here For Texas Program Manager and Community Engagement Manager to enhance recruitment, training, and retention processes for Spanish-speaking volunteers.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a mental health setting (nonprofit, business, community clinic, etc.) working with clients, providing resources, or in another role related to mental health providing direct patient care and/or case management, crisis intervention a plus
  • Experience providing mental health and/or substance use services, information, and substantial knowledge of resources for treatment options, as well as knowledge of levels of care (i.e. outpatient, IOP/PHP, inpatient, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written in Spanish and English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff, donors, board members, volunteers, and community partners
  • Proficiency in Work, Excel, and PowerPoint and ability to learn and master new software quickly and efficiently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines efficiently
  • The ability to work independently and proactively and with a team
  • Dependability, flexibility, and ability to main confidentiality are a must
  • Commitment to agency vision, core values, and mission

Preferred Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling or related field, and 3-4 years of work experience
  • A master’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health counselling or related field, and 2 years of work experience

Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to spend time seated, the dexterity to perform computer keyboard functions, the ability to stand for long periods of time, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

The employee must have reliable transportation.

FLSA: Exempt – Salaried; Full Time

Reports to: Director of Mental Health Resources

Compensation

Salary range will begin at $45,000 and will be based on experience.
