Position Summary
The Mental Health Facilitator - Spanish is a part-time position responsible for presenting to youth and adults in Spanish and facilitating Spanish language support groups for mothers (Charlas con un Cafecito), as well as assisting with related administrative tasks. Applicants must be fluent in English and Spanish.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support Group Facilitation: Foster a supportive and positive support group environment where female caregivers increase their knowledge of mental health information and resources and develop a sense of empowerment and safety.
- Mental Health Psychoeducation Facilitation: Foster a learning environment where attendees increase knowledge of mental health information and resources and can ask questions and seek help when needed.
- Parent and Community Involvement: Build positive, supportive relationships with children, parents, caregivers, and community partners
- Observation and Documentation: Regularly observe interactions while facilitating, document attendance, and distribute surveys to attendees
- Team Collaboration: Participate in the planning of mental health presentation and support group topics
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience teaching or leading groups
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in Spanish, both verbally and in writing, with diverse groups
- Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- The ability to work independently and with others
- Dependability, flexibility and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Commitment to agency vision, core values, and mission
- In accordance with Grant Halliburton Foundation’s team philosophy, demonstrated ability to carry out or assist in project completion in all departments as directed by the supervisor
Preferred Education
Degree or pursuit of a degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must have the ability to spend time seated, the dexterity to perform computer keyboard functions, the ability to stand for long periods of time, and the ability to lift 50 pounds to carry and distribute materials to the community and set up and break down program materials. The employee must have reliable transportation.
FLSA: Exempt - Hourly; Part-Time
Reports to: Senior Director of Mental Health Resources
Compensation: $40 per hour, estimated 10 hours a week.
