Founded in 2015, Bold Idea is a non-profit organization that helps students discover computer science through hands-on learning and mentoring by industry professionals, building critical thinking skills and equipping students to succeed in the careers of the future.  Our students—equipped with crucial interpersonal and technical skills—are better prepared for the careers of the digital future, can compete for higher paying jobs, and gain increased economic potential. We partner with Dallas ISD schools, corporations, and community organizations to create more equitable access to computer science education and ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn computer science.

 

What you will impact:

Bold Idea serves both students in Dallas ISD and throughout north Texas through our in-person and online Coding Clubs & Camps. To meet both our student registration and revenue goals, we must increase our brand awareness among middle- and higher-income families and strengthen relationships with parents. Bold Idea seeks to hire a Marketing Manager who can support our team in creating a strong brand presence with innovative marketing campaigns. The role will  help shape our community outreach efforts in north Texas and meet our goal of empowering youth who do not have access to computer science education opportunities.

 

Who you are:

This is a dynamic opportunity for a professional with at least two to three years of related marketing, communications and/or sales experience. The position offers hand-on experience in several facets of marketing, program management, and relationship management with a growing and innovative nonprofit organization. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will care about the impact that technology and computer science has on the world and is a believer in the power of brand and storytelling to drive results.

 

What you will do:

The Marketing & Brand Manager will be responsible for promoting and securing paid student registration for the ideaSpark Coding Clubs & Camps program, leading the planning and implementation of strategic program marketing activities. He / she will support the Program Team goals related to student enrollment, onboarding student participation, and overseeing the student experience.

Program marketing

  • Plan and manage local marketing initiatives, including traditional and digital media,
  • Perform marketing research within the community to better identify target audiences and needs; develop and implement strategies that resonate with the target market
  • Create sales growth opportunities by developing community relations and identifying referral sources
  • Perform research on competitors and trends, share findings with the team, and take the lead on creating projects that bring in new earned revenue
  • Analyze and report on campaign performance and ROI
  • Manage marketing budget

Program coordination

  • Provide excellent customer service to parent customers and effectively interface with outside partners, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Onboard registered students to prepare them for their program participation and liaise with parents
  • Manage the laptop donation program for qualified students
  • Ensure a positive student experience for participating students
  • Cross-functional project and program support, assisting with special projects as needed
  • Engage with the Bold Idea community using Slack and other digital platforms

Brand marketing

  • Design a research-based brand strategy to build brand awareness and increase brand value and profitability
  • Ensure that messaging and marketing activities are aligned with brand and company values. Including verifying that all website design and language reflects accurate and up-to-date information about Bold Idea; optimize website content for SEO
  • Manage all aspects of Bold Idea’s social media presence
  • Provide written content for branded emails, social media posts and campaigns, offline marketing material, video stories, and blog posts.
  • Represent Bold Idea in community events and secure new partnership and funding opportunities
  • Collect data to continually improve quality and effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinate annual program t-shirt order and distribution
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment

 

What you bring to the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Marketing, Advertising, Business Sales or Communications
  • A minimum of two to three years of leading marketing and/or advertising campaigns, including online placements and community relations
  • Energetic go-getter attitude
  • Self-starter who can work independently as part of a small team
  • Great communication, writing and editing skills
  • Keen eye for graphic design, attention to detail, and creativity
  • Proficiency with various social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines
  • Excel at managing multiple projects at once, maintain a goal-focused process to get stuff done, and strive to be data-driven and results-focused.
