Description

The Manager or Director of Major Gifts is responsible for planning, implementing, growing and evaluating the Pacesetter division for the Federation through the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals, foundation endowment, and other prospects.

REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer

SUPERVISES: Administrative Assistant

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Staff the major gift division of the annual campaign working with Stewardship and Giving Society Chairs, Pacesetter Event Chairs, and Pacesetter Campaign Chairs.
2. Develops effective strategies for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding prospects, through the relationship based fundraising model to further engagement with the organization, focusing on major donors.
3. Plans and implements relevant committee and task force meetings. Organizes attendance, logistics, agenda and materials preparation, meeting minutes and follow-up items, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy.
4. Assists with budget preparation and monitoring for the philanthropy department.
5. Manage the overall relationship with relevant Committees, involving staff and lay leaders as appropriate. Ensure timely and accurate information is provided to ensure that campaign leadership feel fully supported.
6. In conjunction with the Chief Development Officer:
a. Ensure that donor information is effectively and efficiently maintained, and prospect cultivation activity is appropriately tracked.
b. Ensure that reporting systems are complete, efficient, accurate and monitored for quality control.
c. Ensure that appropriate systems are in place to provide exceptional customer service to all donors and prospects.
7. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in financial resource development, including donor development.
Other Requirements:
• Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone and in writing.
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products and Raiser’s Edge database.
• Ability to organize, monitor, and track numerous ongoing and one-time activities, events and projects.
• Strong interpersonal relationship skills including the ability to meet, greet and educate people with confidence and poise.
• Ability to logically solve problems with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and be detail oriented.
• Discretion handling and communicating sensitive information.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and handle stress.
• Willingness to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
• A positive attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
• Sensitivity to Jewish culture and traditions.
• Ability to travel and work in off-site settings on a regular basis. Ability to work evenings, weekends, or irregular hours as necessary to interact with donors and prospects and attend relevant meetings and events.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

Position Type: This is a full time, exempt level position. It qualifies for all benefit packages.

Working Conditions: Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policies, procedures, and data; maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must be physically able to operate computers and office equipment; occasional bending, reaching, squatting, speaking, and listening; frequent sitting and maintaining close visual attention to write reports; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
