Housing and Community Life Director

 

Reports to:

 

Executive Director

 

Job Summary:

The Housing and Community Life Coordinator’s number one responsibility is to help the participating families experience a safe, supportive community. Housing and facilities should be managed in a professional consistent manner that enforces all lease agreements and policies therein while also honoring the dignity of each member of the community. The Housing and Community Life Coordinator is a key member of the Family Support Team and the E2 planning team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Prays regularly for all families.

 

  1. Housing Management
    1. Participates in the Family Selection Process including sending and receiving all housing applications and necessary background checks
    2. Manages all rent values bases on income level.
  1. Request and confirm receipt of all pay stubs
    1. Work with Maintenance partners to ensure apartments are flipped within 2 weeks of vacancy
    2. Ensure housing support team is aware of all needs for incoming families including furniture, bedding, kitchen and bathroom needs
  1. Facilitate housing orientation, orienting participant families on all aspects of the Housing Program, including, but not limited to lease enforcement, community guidelines, all apps used for the tenants.
    1. Conduct bi-annual spending plan meetings with each Nest participant.
    2. Regular income verification and rent adjustments following bi-annual spending plan meetings
    3. Collects security deposits and rent
    4. Enforces lease agreements
    5. Conducts regular housing inspections
    6. Maintains all housing records in database
    7. Maintains property by investigating and resolving tenant complaints; enforcing rules of occupancy; inspecting vacant units and ensuring the completion of repairs; and planning renovations
    8. Ensures all maintenance requests are followed up on immediately if the request is a high-level request or within 2 business days for medium and low-level request
    9. Ensures communication between Maintenance and Facilities partners with all tenants, vendors, partners, and volunteers is kind, professional, and empathetic during all interactions related to housing and community life
    10. Maintains a preferred vendor lists for maintenance issues
    11. Makes recommendations to ED for annual housing and facilities budget

 

  1. Community Center/Grounds Management
    1. Ensure resident repair requests are handled in a timely manner
    2. Ensure The Nest site facilities repair requests are handled in a timely manner.
    3. Manage schedule and workflow priorities for The Nest.
    4. Create grounds keeping schedule for The Nest

 

  1. Community Life
    1. Assists The Nest LEAD TEAM meeting chair with planning and executing monthly community meetings
    2. Works with staff and LT to maintain a Community Life calendar, including, but not limited to: monthly community meals, community events, etc.

 

  1. Next Step Housing
    1. Develop and maintain relationships with permanent housing providers, including but not limited to: homeownership programs, rental providers, etc.
    2. Ensure all NEST program participants are aware of all possible Next Step Housing options throughout their time at The Nest and assist all participants in developing their own personal Next Step Housing Plan
    3. Keep FST (Family Support Team) abreast of each participants personal Next Step Housing Plan

 

  1. In-kind Donation management
  1. Oversees and manages needed furniture and household donations.
  2. Maintains a system to accept or reject an in-kind donation based on need and quality.
  3. Maintains a list of needed items and communicates with MPD to solicit needed donations

 

  1. Co-Facilitate Nest Lead Team
    1. Co-Facilitate NLT meetings
    2. Ensure integrity of NLT roles in the community, including clarifying responsibilities, helping navigate any disagreements and holding the NLT to the mission they’ve agreed to align with
    3. Plan and execute annual NLT retreat in partnership with co-facilitator
    4. Take the lead in mentoring NLT event chairs in developing their teams and understanding their roles
    5. Take the lead in mentoring NLT event chairs as they plan community events and other types of community engagements including welcoming new families to The Nest
    6. Attend all NLT events, lending advice and assistance where needed to effectively model community event leadership to the NLT
    7. Assist in evaluating and executing curriculum for leadership development
    8. Assist in recruiting speakers for leadership development

 

  1. Co- facilitate the E2 planning team
  1. Maintain E2 class calendar
  2. Participate in the planning of E2 classes
  3. Participate in Hosting E2 classes

 

  1. Timely Management of Apricot Data (within 2 weeks of any changes, updates and meetings)

 

  1. Keep Housing Processes on Monday timeline for each participant current, within the time frame allotted for every step

 

  1. Attend staff retreats and conferences when planned

 

  1. Other responsibilities as assigned

 

Academic/Experience Requirements:

 

  1. Must have Highschool diploma, college degree preferrred
  1. Two to three years of experience in housing property management preferred

2.Must have a working knowledge of basic financial and communication systems.

3.Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word & Excel

Compensation/Benefits

  1. Compensation is determined based on experience and education
  2. Insurance benefits with employment copay , PTO: 15 days,  13 paid holidays.

Hours:

 

This job is a full-timed salaried position.  Hours are generally 9am-5pm and may vary week-to-week. There will be the need to work some hours on weekends and/or weeknights.
