SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION
Founded in 1901, ChildCareGroup’s mission is to champion a strong early childhood system that teaches children and parents, trains early childhood professionals, and assists families.
The Home-Based Specialist will work closely with multiple positions within the department including the Director, Managers, Parent Educators, Family Advocates, and Health/Inclusion Specialists. He/she will be responsible for ensuring community involvement and full enrollment throughout the program by working with community partners and team members. He/she will also serve as a substitute Parent Educator during extended absences.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Community Relations: Serves as the “face and voice” of CCG in the community to promote the program to eligible families and community leaders. Identifies, initiates and deepens relationships through networking events, community involvement, chamber membership, etc. Ensures in-kind and volunteer requirements are met.
Works with a variety of community organizations to plan and develop programs that will enhance CCG’s two- generation model. Serve as a liaison between parents and community resources.
Maintains formal and informal agreements with community partners related to social services to meet the specific needs of the families enrolled in the program and the team members.
Stay abreast of www.NorthTexasFamilies.org as an organizational/community resource while also contributing new resources as found while out in community and attending events.
Recruitment: Responsible for recruiting eligible families to participate in the Early Head Start program by working closely with other positions within the Home-Based program, connecting with community partners, and attending community events.
Family Services: Perform the duties of a Parent Educator as needed to remain in compliance with EHS standards. Maintain knowledge of program requirements in the areas of ERSEA and health in order to service in the capacity of a Family Advocate or Health Specialist when necessary.
Database Maintenance: Responsible for utilizing the ChildPlus database to maintain the waiting list, enroll children and update in-kind information as well as resources provided to the families.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Social Services, or Family and Human Development
Experience and Skills Required:
At least one (1) year of experience in community outreach required At least 1 year of experience in Early Head Start preferred

Other desired skills:
Strong skills in teamwork, big-picture thinking, and problem-solving required.
Knowledge and experience with Early Head Start program strongly preferred. Knowledge of ChildPlus database preferred.
Ability to work with multiple departments and team members strongly preferred. Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and various databases
- Local travel required
- Must have a valid Texas driver's license with driving record acceptable to CCG's automobile insurance carrier, liability insurance coverage and own transportation available.
- Work requires normal physical effort, visual attention, manual dexterity or coordination. Any lifting restricted to items or children weighing less than 25 pounds.
