The MINT bookkeeper manages all day-to-day financial tasks and operations and works to improve existing systems. The bookkeeper must have a thorough understanding of fund accounting; experience in non-profit accounting; and deep experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office. The bookkeeper must be able to handle all aspects of bookkeeping for a rapidly growing non-profit, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll and contract worker payments. Attention to detail and ability to analyze data are key to this position.

Responsibilities include general ledger; accounts payable and accounts receivable; managing and tracking restricted funds; preparation of monthly financial reports, including income statement, balance sheet and multiple budget reports; and preparing annual financial reports detailing expenditures for specific grants as requested. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage payroll
  • Pay bills and process check requests as approved by ED
  • Enter data into QBO and Populi including deposits and withdrawals, generate invoices, run reports, and other miscellaneous activities
  • Assist in creating and revising course budgets, admin/overhead budget, agency budget, and event budgets
  • Assist in updating Enrollment Contracts and Installment Payment Agreements
  • Track grant revenue and expenses and generate grant budgets and financial reports as requested
  • Track fundraising revenue and expenses and prepare financial reports for donors as requested
  • Create and Issue tax forms for students and staff
  • Submit wire transfers for transactions
  • Maintain and review all financial records on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Prepare financial reports for Board of Directors meetings
  • Provide information, data, and reports for Finance and Budget meetings as requested by ED
  • Prepare quarterly tax reports
  • Provide documents and information to the designated accountant for year-end tax filings
  • Provide input to ED to improve financial and payroll systems and assist in developing financial procedures in accordance with best practice for non-profit accounting
  • Participate in preparation for financial audits and reviews, including document preparation and on-site support

This is a 40 hour/full time, exempt position with medical benefits. The work is on-site at MINT in Dallas, with flexibility for some remote work. The salary is commensurate with experience.
