POSITION SUMMARY:

The Jewish Community Outreach and Food Pantry Coordinator position will liaise within the Jewish community, developing and performing research, giving presentations, building relationship and networking to provide resources and create channels of access to distribute food (Kosher or non- Kosher) within the community. This position will serve as the liaison for families and individuals in the Jewish Community that could benefit from food access and the wraparound care JFS provides. In addition, you will support the Hunger Relief Manager and assist with receiving food delivery/donations, work with food pantry volunteers, work in the active food pantry distributions and other duties as assigned to assist the Hunger Relief Manager. These efforts will contribute to, maintain, and implement the agency's goals and programs through the Hunger Relief department's objectives in serving our community.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work collaboratively within the Hunger Relief Team and the Volunteer Engagement Department. Collaborate with other direct service staff from each agency department, support, and administrative staff to meet the program service needs.
  2. Research areas of food insecurity within the Jewish Community and ways to overcome stigmas and biases.
  3. Develop and maintain collaborative networks in the Jewish Community.
  4. Create presentations, inform, and educate Jewish community leaders and organizations about Hunger, Food Insecurity and JFS Services/Programs.
  5. In collaboration with the Sr. Director of Special Programs, establish different systems of access for clients or individuals who require food and other services.
  6. Assess and identify client’s circumstances contributing to their need for support.
  7. Identify and refer clients to different JFS services and community resources as appropriate.
  8. Maintain documentation of outreach activities, client outcomes and data.
  9. Acts as liaison for Food Pantry volunteers, supervising and supporting volunteer shifts in the food pantry.
  10. Work in the food pantry receiving deliveries and donations.
  11. Support the Hunger Relief Manager during active food pantry distributions.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Psychology/Social Work or related field.
  • A history of working in the Jewish Community is required
  • Experience in the non-profit or social service setting a plus
  • Experience with public speaking, public relations and/or marketing a plus
  • Must be adept at communicating successfully both in verbal and written form
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with a team
  • Computer skills, particularly MS Word, Excel, Teams, Sharepoint and Google Drive
  • Must be able to lift 30+ pounds routinely and stand for long periods of time
