The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth

The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth is a 501(c)(4) non-profit corporation that has been dedicated to empowering women through educational programs and community development since 1923.  The club’s corporate membership is comprised of 38 individual clubs that serve women by providing opportunities to study individual areas of interest.  Additional programming is provided through departments that offer classes in different humanities focused subjects.

The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth has over 1,100 members and is housed at 1316 Pennsylvania Avenue in Fort Worth, Texas.  The campus is composed of four (4) historic homes, an art studio, banquet hall, commercial kitchen, and a one block parking lot. Website: www.thewomansclubfw.com

Executive Director Position

Presently, The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth is conducting a search for its next Executive Director.  The person selected will be responsible for the management of the corporation, and ensuring that proper strategic initiatives are in place to sustain the organization for the future.

The Executive Director reports directly to the Club’s Board of Directors and has strategic and operational responsibility for staff, programs, expansion and execution of the Club’s mission.  The position requires experience and deep knowledge in the fields of financial management, business planning, operations and staff management, and member relations. Area of importance are:

Leadership and Management:

  • Work in harmony and report to President, Executive Committee and the Board of Directors
  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
  • Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, event committees, partnering organizations, and external clients.
  • Recruit, lead, coach, develop, and retain qualified staff.
  • Ensure effective systems to track progress toward goals, and regularly evaluate strategic initiatives, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, members and other stakeholders.

Fundraising and Communications:

  • Expand revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing operations and new revenue streams while simultaneously improving the quality of programs and facility needs.
  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications –from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
  • Use external presence and relationships with the business community and strategic partners to garner new opportunities.
  • Provide leadership to secure funds for facility needs.
  • Oversee all communications both internal and external through multiple mediums including social media, online blog posts, club wide e-blasts, word of mouth, monthly newsletter, and yearly directory.
  • Develop an annual report that effectively communicates the impact of the organization within its membership and the community at large.

Planning and Business Development:

  • Improve the strategic business planning process for sustaining current operations while expanding external revenue streams.
  • Begin to expand partnerships in new parts of the community, establishing relationships with the funders, and political and community leaders at each expansion site.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally across generations with members ranging in age from 21-100+.
  • Vision to provide a strategic perspective and the ability to focus on long-term results with consideration to the individual goals and perspectives of the approximate 1100+ members for the future of the Woman’s Club.
  • Aptitude to manage and prioritize multiple projects at a time to maintain over 48,000 square feet of historic buildings located on two city blocks of property.
  • Financial acumen to maintain a complex cash flow accounting system and oversee multiple endowments and restricted funds.

The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth is a small but complex organization. As such, it is          important that a successful candidate to have the following technical capabilities to navigate this role.

  • Advanced understanding of the Wix website development software and suite of services.
  • Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software, accrual-based accounting systems, financial reporting compliance, and a strong background in financial management and budget development.
  • Proficiency in working with the Adobe creative Cloud suite of services, specifically Acrobat DC, In Design, and Illustrator.
  • Expert level understanding of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word,
  • Power Point, and Outlook.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 20 lbs.

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a position of leadership in an organization
  • 5+ years in an executive level management position in an organization with $1.5+ million in total assets with an annual budget of over $700,000
  • 5+ years of experience managing at least 5 or more staff members
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years managing projects with preference given for experience in facility management oversight
  • Possess good communications skills, both written and speaking
  • Conflict of Interest – A member of The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth may apply for this position, but if employed must resign membership in The Woman’s Club
