Job Title: Director of Lumin Bachman Lake Community School and Home Visiting Program

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

School/Program: Lumin Education Bachman Lake Community School and East Dallas Campuses

Hours/Status: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, 250-day year

 

Summary:

Coordinate all functions of the Lumin Bachman Lake Community School and Home Visiting at the Bachman Lake and East Dallas campuses. Comply with Early Head Start Performance Standards and other Funder regulations. Participate in Pregnancy to Age 3 (P3) initiatives. Ensure Montessori philosophy and practices are implanted in all programs. Respect for and interest in supporting families from diverse backgrounds, particularly immigrant communities.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

Supervision

  1. Hire, coach and evaluate the performance of Health Services Coordinator, Program and Disabilities Manager, ERSEA and Family and Community Partnerships Coordinator, Office Coordinator, Classroom Supervisor, Fatherhood Initiative Specialist, 0-5 Supervisor, Administrative Assistant/Recruiter, and East Dallas Home Visiting Supervisor.
  2. Oversee consultant services which include mental health and nutrition.
  3. Promote a consistent exchange of information across the Bachman Lake Together campus and with the larger Lumin organization.
  4. Encourage and support professional development opportunities.
  5. Facilitate conflict resolution.
  6. Ensure safety and security measures are in place for clients and staff.

 

Systems Evaluation and Development

  1. Plan and facilitate weekly management meetings.
  2. Provide leadership in the design of internal structures, systems and policies and procedures.
  3. Ensure adequate systems are in place to maintain the highest quality of services to children and families in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
  4. Ensure consistency in service delivery across program with attention to inclusive practices and integration of component areas; encourage continuous improvement of systems.
  5. Ensure coordination among components, across levels and with the organization.
  6. Participate in development of program interagency agreements and contracts.
  7. Participate in Lumin Leadership team meetings
  8. Collaborate with Lumin Leadership in advancing the mission and initiatives of the organization

 

External Relations

  1. Foster positive, proactive relationships with Bachman Lake Together Executive Director and staff and Dallas Area Interfaith Community Organizer.
  2. Attend interagency organizational and planning meetings as appropriate.
  3. Participate in professional development activities and organized community events.
  4. Represent or assign a designee to represent Lumin Bachman Lake Community School on local planning bodies.
  5. Present or assign a designee to present to parents, staff, Board of Directors, and community groups to provide information and ensure collaboration as needed.

 

Budgets, and Grants

  1. Oversee the efforts of coordinators and consultants in the monitoring and control of component budgets; identification and interpretation of Early Head Start and community needs; conformance to Performance Standards and other regulatory requirements. Including but not limited to reporting requirements – PIR, Self- Assessment, Community Assessment, APR.
  2. Maintain annual planning calendar. Prepare for and demonstrate compliance for Program Monitoring Visits.
  3. Collaborate with Lumin Leadership Team members on future Bachman facility development for future expansion of families and/or services, potential funding opportunities and development of program budget.
  4. Model Early Head Start confidentiality and Standard of Conduct.
  5. Maintain relationships with all funders (Head Start, United Way, etc.); Meet program and budgetary requirements.
  6. Prepare for and demonstrate compliance for Program Monitoring Visits.
  7. Support the Development Department with data and stories for funding reports and grant requests.
  8. Prepare grant narratives and budgets in coordination with business office

Additionally, other duties may be assigned to those listed.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of staff supervision, fiscal management and administration preferably in an educational non-profit.
  • Significant experience in administration, including knowledge of State licensing requirements and Head Start Performance Standards. Strong knowledge of best practices and systems in the field of early childhood and home visiting.
  • Knowledge of, or experience in , Montessori education, particularly in birth to three years old.
  • Experience in design and delivery of training.
  • Proficient computer skills, including internet and e-mail, excel, and related databases as well as the ability to learn new systems.
  • Montessori certification, preferred.

  • Ability to deal with and manage change.
