Each year, DCT's devoted cast of professional artists and others expose an average of 250,000 people to what is clearly one of the best educational and artistic experiences available. In addition, through hands-on workshops, substantive classroom curriculum, onstage performance and supplemental forums for discussion around tough themes such as bullying, learning differences, eating disorders, dating violence, equity and inclusion - to name a few—DCT provides kids and families with a safe, non-threatening environment in which to experience the performing arts and exchange important and character-building ideas at the same time.


We are looking for an experienced Director of Finance & Human Resources to oversee all financial and human resources aspects of the theater.  This position is responsible for and supervises all accounting and financial matters, financial reporting to the Finance Committee, budgeting, annual financial audit, tax reporting, employee/property insurances, information technology, banking, general human resource matters and functions as the CFO of the Theater.

This position reports to the Executive Director.  The position supervises full-time Finance Manager, Accounting Associate, and IT Manager.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar required
  • Knowledge and experience with insurance administration, human resources and non-profit accounting
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Experience in Sage Quantum 50 accounting software a plus
  • Management experience

Responsibilities include accounting/finance, employee and property/casualty insurances, information technology, banking, and human resource matters.  Function as CFO of the organization

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve monthly financial transactions
  • Design and create accounting reports within software
  • Prepare financial reports for the Finance Committee & Board
  • Attend board, finance, and executive committee meetings
  • Present financial reporting package during the Finance Committee meeting
  • Prepare quarterly reports for bank covenants
  • Handle banking matters and relations
  • Coordinate and manage annual audit with external audit firm
  • Coordinate and manage preparation and filing of tax forms with external firm
  • Prepare financials for grant requests
  • Prepare and oversee annual budget and forecasts; present to finance committee
  • Advise and report any financial issues/opportunities to Executive Artistic Director and Board
  • Negotiate, design and administer annual employee insurance plans
  • Manage all HR administrative functions, including but not limited to:
    • Open Enrollment
    • Orientation
    • Ensure overall adherence to company policies
    • Resolve employee relations and conflict issues
    • Keep current with workplace laws
    • Collaborate with all department managers on any HR matter
  • Negotiate and administer property and casualty insurance plan
  • Approve major IT expenses and plans
  • Attend staff and departmental meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Background and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar required
  • Knowledge and experience with insurance administration, human resources and non-profit accounting
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Sage Quantum 50 accounting software experience a plus
  • Supervisory experience
