Description

Are you ready to create a meaningful difference in the lives of foster youth using your fundraising and development skills? TRAC (Transition Resource Action Center) the only non-profit in DFW helping foster youth age out of state care and transition to independence is searching for a dedicated Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts.  This is an exciting opportunity for a current Director of Development and/ or an emerging development leader with a passion for foster children and a desire to lead a development team in a growing organization.

 

The Transition Resource Action Center (TRAC) is a non – profit committed to supporting and empowering foster youth during their transition into adulthood. TRAC’s mission is to connect young people, ages 14 – 24, who are transitioning from foster/ substitute care towards self-sufficiency, with individualized support, planning and access to community services. Since 2003, TRAC has provided a “one – stop” support option for youth exiting foster and/or juvenile justice care through our Dallas and Fort Worth Drop – In Centers. TRAC is the only transition center serving 19 counties throughout North Texas (Region 3) of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. TRAC provides seamless, wrap – around and transitional support services necessary for our youth to develop into self – sufficient young adults.

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Development will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from current and prospective foundations, individual and corporate donors.  He/ She will be responsible for the strategic creation and implementation of communication and outreach to current and prospective donors. The Director of Development will also have vast knowledge and experience in multiple CRM software systems and experience executing special events. This position will work closely with the Executive Director and collaborate with the Development team of the Board.  He/ She must be able to work independently as well as work closely with the other members of TRAC’s Team. The Director of Development is responsible for carrying out the Mission and Vision of TRAC while operating under the recognized Core Values.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum from an accredited 4-year university with a preference for a degree in social services, English, journalism, marketing, business, management, or other related area.
  • 5 years demonstrated successful fundraising experience as Director of Development or second in command over development with non–profit organization(s).
  • Strong leadership, management and organizational skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Grant writing and foundation engagement experience.
  • Experience working special events.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Passion for the mission and work of the organization
  • Enthusiastic interest in mentoring others and working as a team.

 

Technical Skills, Traits and Knowledge

 

  • Ability to work with the Executive Director and Board Development leaders to set annual fundraising goals for gifts from individuals, family and private foundations, corporations, and local business.
  • Ability to develop strategies for donor cultivation, acquisition, and retention.
  • Ability to research and identify potential funding sources which align with organizational priorities.
  • Ability to write grants while working closely with program staff to develop cases for support, ensuring proper reporting of funded proposals to managing ongoing donor stewardship and relationships.
  • CRM expertise
  • Ability to manage our outreach and communications strategy to various audiences using written and electronic media.
  • Ability to manage grant deliverables and deadlines.
  • Ability to interact and influence donors, foundations, and philanthropic community leaders.
  • Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively influence both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives.
  • Professional, dependable, and proactive
  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside TRAC
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Compensation and Benefits

 

  • Salary range:  $100,000-$120,000 dependent upon demonstrated past success
