Description

Family Compass, founded in 1992, is an independent, nonprofit agency in Dallas, Texas that works to prevent child abuse and neglect. Family Compass seeks a Development Manager to support the annual campaign by implementing the agency’s special events, communication plan and volunteer management strategies. This role reports to the Director of Development to support the agency’s mission and drive the marketing plan. This position supervises three full-time VISTA volunteers and one summer intern to perform the following responsibilities:

Special Events

  • Oversee planning, implementation and day-of logistics for all fundraising events
  • Drive timelines around all fundraising events
  • Serve as lead fundraiser to acquire sponsorships and underwriting for events
  • Design, implement and/or manage the online donation platform and event registrations
  • Develop and oversee budget monitoring and income forecasting for all events
  • Coordinate with external partners and staff all third-party events

Public Relations & Marketing

  • Supervise the preparation of the development marketing plan
  • Establish and maintain contacts and participation in events to promote the agency
  • Write and/or edit copy for press releases, articles and public service announcements, etc.
  • Coordinate media interviews and news conferences, if needed
  • Coordinate the appropriate use of the logo/tagline and indicia
  • Oversee social media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities
  • Develop opportunities for cause marketing partnerships
  • Maintain donor relations, engaging key individuals, community partners, corporations, etc.

Volunteerism

  • Supervise a VISTA volunteer that provides for the volunteer needs of the various programs and projects
  • Maintain a constant awareness of the fluctuating volunteer needs
  • Recruit volunteers internally and externally
  • Maintain an up-to-date volunteer database, prepare reports upon request
  • Respond to all volunteer office phone, email and walk-in inquiries
  • Process volunteer applications, background checks and conduct orientations

Annual Campaign

  • Oversee the development of an annual calendar of activities
  • Oversee the construction of the Annual Report for the agency

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required

Special Event, Public Relations, Marketing and Community Management experience

High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Publisher

Strong Raiser’s Edge proficiency

Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide others when necessary

Confident in public speaking

Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format and build and maintain relationships

Seeks out and is open to feedback

Strong project management and organizational skills

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly

Flexible and able to problem solve and reason

Independent thinker and self-starter

High level of clerical skill both in speed and accuracy

At least two years of non-profit experience preferred

Salary: $43,000.00 to $53,000.00 /year
