The Development Associate will be part of the Development and Communications team of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas (FPC Dallas) which manages communications for the church, FPC Dallas Foundation, FPC Day School, The Stewpot, and Encore Park and development efforts for all entities apart from The Stewpot. The position will report to the Sr. Dir. of Development and Communications of FPC Dallas.

Essential Functions 

  • Assume overall responsibility for the timeliness, accuracy, and upkeep of the donations and gift acknowledgment systems for all entities for which the office has responsibility, including database management, mail merging, letter writing, summarizing of deposits, working the with Finance Office to reconcile all donations with the donor system, accurate record-keeping, and appropriate stewardship of gifts.
  • Continually seek to improve systems, update donor and volunteer records, and provide clerical assistance for mailings.
  • Maintain a checklist of financial statements needed from the Finance office to ensure that accurate records are available at all times.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts, particularly with respect to the fundraising databases for each entity. Assist in the development of new programs, initiatives, and general fundraising operations.
  • Manage donor/church member inquiries and communication/correspondence.
  • Assist with pulling lists and preparation for mailings.
  • Communicate with appropriate personnel to ensure that accurate recordkeeping and procedures are maintained.
  • Develop verbiage for thank you letters and other correspondence as required.
  • Communicate directly with donors/church members, as needed.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of events during and outside normal working hours.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for the mission, the clients, volunteers, and staff.
  • Support the department in communications and with all stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or associate’s degree with equivalent training or relevant experience in business or not-for-profit organizations.
  • Experience working and communicating effectively with donors and constituents.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent database management (Bloomerang preferred) and donor research skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
  • Comfort interfacing with the Finance Office as required.
