Literacy Achieves, founded as Vickery Meadow Learning Center, is dedicated to improving English literacy levels among non-English speaking adults and their young children by providing programs in communication and life skills to promote self-sufficiency and the overall well-being of our students, their families and the greater community.

Literacy Achieves serves approximately 1,200 adults and 330 children annually at its three Dallas locations. Approximately 350 volunteers teach adult classes, work in the computer lab, assist in the office and support the children’s program.

We are seeking an experienced and organized database manager who will assist with completing administrative tasks. Being skilled with nonprofit databases is a prerequisite for this position. We work with those that believe in our mission.


The Database Manager and Development Coordinator’s job involves managing the internal databases of donors and prospects, gift processing, information retrieval and analysis, and database maintenance. This role also will assist the CEO and development team in various administrative tasks


This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and takes direction from the Chief Executive Officer.


 Database Management                                                                              Time: 70%

  • Oversee and maintain agency database for fundraising and public Maintain accurate record-keeping of constituents for information retrieval and analysis.
  • Support donor stewardship and segmentation.
  • Prepare fundraising, donation and constituent reports as requested.
  • Assist with preparation for mailing
  • Process donations and prepare donor acknowledgements.
  • Support others who work in the donor database or who assist during periods of high

Administrative support for Chief Executive Officer                                 Time 20%

  • Provide support for the CEO by completing various, general administrative tasks as assigned.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities                                                                 Time: 10%

  • Occasionally research, write, edit and report on grants. This is not a grant writing position and the only expectation is to assist.


  • Minimum of two years of complex, nonprofit database management experience
  • Bloomerang database experience
  • At least two years nonprofit experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Able to shift priorities to address immediate needs
  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of database management experience


  • High School graduate and 5 years full time paid office experience as detailed
