OVERVIEW:
The Contract Grant Writer for the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas is responsible for identifying and qualifying new donors, assisting with donor reporting and stewardship, and writing grant proposals to foundation, corporate, government, and United Way funders. The grant writer will oversee grant compliance and reporting and develop institutional donor profiles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute a successful grant strategy aligned with the DSG annual revenue budget, including researching prospects, writing proposals, reporting on impact, and stewarding donors throughout the grant life cycle.

A monthly goal of four grant applications will be expected, unless documentation can be provided that show additional hours needed for a specific application.

Research prospective funders, and create and maintain profiles on current, potential, and past funders.

Work directly with the Executive Director to develop and execute a yearly grant strategy and submission/reporting calendar.

Manage a portfolio of foundation and corporate prospects, including writing and reviewing grant applications and reports.

Develop relationships with funders obtain feedback, and suggestions for proposed submissions.

Represent the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas at grant-related site visits and follow-up meetings, as
required.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree and one to two years related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent knowledge of diverse funding sources.

Proven success in grant writing.

Strong time-management, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.

Able to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines with minimal supervision.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, eTapestry or other donor database software.

Passion in supporting individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

SALARY, BENEFITS, AND HOURS:
This is a 6-month independent contractor position. Contracts will be evaluated with the possibility of extension after 6 months. This position is NOT eligible for benefits. The Contract Grant Writer will be classified as a 1099 independent contractor and will be responsible for all related taxes in accordance with the State of Texas and IRS.

The Contract Grant Writer has the ability to create his/her own remote schedule. Some regular business hours (between 8 am-5 pm) should be expected in order to collaborate with DSG staff and grantors.

Monthly contract salary range: $1,200-$1,500 commensurate with experience.
