The Sponsoring Committee for the Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League has initiated a Request for Proposal (RFP) process to identify qualified consultants to guide and execute the development of a new Urban League affiliate in the Dallas – Fort Worth metroplex.  The Sponsoring Committee for the Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League seeks a consultant who demonstrates a strong overall understanding of the Urban League, has strong facilitation skills and has strong and proven abilities to fundraise.

Application Instructions

The Sponsoring Committee for the Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League has initiated a Request for Proposal (RFP) process to identify qualified consultants to guide and execute the development of a new Urban League affiliate in the Dallas – Fort Worth metroplex.  The Sponsoring Committee for the Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League seeks a consultant who demonstrates a strong overall understanding of the Urban League, has strong facilitation skills and has strong and proven abilities to fundraise.

Delivery Term Requirements:

Please provide a detailed response to the request for proposal no later than Friday, September 17, 2021 at 4 PM (Central Time) by emailing dfwulsponsoringcommittee@gmail.com

Position Objectives:

  1. Serve as a relationship manager on behalf of the committee, and as a key contact in the relationship with nationals.
  2. Streamline the process of all communication, serve as the primary contact and project lead, and provide all administrative support duties for the collective committee.
  3. Possess passion, drive, and commitment to executing in excellence on behalf of the affiliate.
  4. Develop marketing materials and an implementation strategy to ensure the affiliate’s development and success.
  5. Coordinate affiliate services and strengthen connections with relevant parties for support, through working in collaboration with community partners.
  6. Foster committee accountability, monitor progress, and track and report on affiliate updates.

Project Scope:

This project will include the following deliverables:

  1. Support the Sponsoring Committee in securing a $500,000 commitment for three consecutive years for the operating budget
  2. Development of a strategic plan to secure revenue or firmly secure the commitments to meet the minimal $1.5 million operating budget over the affiliate’s initial three years of operation
  3. Organize, research, and align strategic partners to finalize top 3 programming initiatives
  4. Lead and write the final application to submit to the Chair of the Affiliate Services Committee for the Sponsoring Committee to formally receive affiliate status from the National Urban League

Intended Project Outcomes and Measures of Success

When the Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League affiliate is established and open to the public, it is expected to result in the following:

  • Provide community-led capacity to advance community-based solutions
  • Center and amplify the marginalized voices of those impacted by issues determined by the Community Needs Assessment
  • The development of social programs and advocacy-based initiatives

 

The success of the Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League affiliate will be measured by the following:

  • Elevated support from stakeholders, donors, volunteers, members, and visitors as evidenced by membership numbers, financial commitments, volunteer hours, and event attendance
  • Community Needs Assessments

 

Project Budget:

Consultant: $30,000

Proposal Requirements and How to Submit

  1. Executive Summary of your approach to the project deliverables
  2. Summary of your background, resources, and relevant experience
  3. Examples from past projects of a similar size and scope. If projects of similar size and scope have not been completed, then include examples that are most relevant in demonstrating your ability to complete this project.
  4. Statement of philosophy and capabilities. How do you view the relationships between stakeholders, donors, and volunteers?  What arrangements have worked out best for you on past projects?
  5. Statement of philosophy of community engagement
  6. 2 – 3 References from past clients of projects of a similar size and scope
  7. Resume or curriculum vitae

Evaluation Criteria

The Sponsoring Committee of the Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League will select the proposal that delivers the highest quality deliverables at the best value.  Interviews may be conducted by the selection committee.

Expected Date of Award and Schedule

RFP Questions – questions about the project, RFP, or proposal submission requirements must be emailed by Monday, August 30, 2021 to nikki.d.christmas@gmail.com

Formal responses to all consultant respondents’ questions will be issued in writing via email to all by Friday, September 3, 2021.

Proposal Deadline and Delivery – proposals must be received by the Sponsoring Committee by Friday, September 17, 2021 at 4pm Central Time.

Project Award

Announcement of the award of the project is expected no later than Friday, October 15, 2021.  All consultant responders will be informed of the results of their proposal.
