Educational First Steps seeks to create and support high-quality early learning environments that ignite the minds of children from birth to age five. Our early childhood education program—the Four Steps to Excellence—provides evidence-based training, mentoring, and comprehensive resource support, all at no cost to teachers, families, and communities, to help childcare centers achieve national accreditation. In turn, childcare providers deliver the high-quality, high-impact care required to create and support early learning environments that help all children experience an equal opportunity for success.

We are seeking a full-time Communications and Events Manager to join our Development Team! This position is ideal for an experienced fundraiser and relationship-builder who is eager to grow with a fantastic organization.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Communications and Events Manager works as an integral part of the agency’s development team by managing both the agency’s communication initiatives and external events for donors, community supporters, and volunteers. The Communications and Events Manager participates in short- and long-term departmental planning and other strategic initiatives that aim to grow the organization’s reach, reputation, and revenue.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement the delivery of both digital and mailed communications for the organization including mailed appeals, advertisements, website content, e-newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Manage and coordinate fundraising, volunteer, stewardship, and other special events, both in-person and virtually.
  • Oversee a robust and engaging communications, marketing, and stewardship calendar that enhances relationships with donors, educational and corporate partners, and early childhood education influencers.
  • Work directly with media and press outlets to help increase brand awareness and integrity.
  • Contributes to development database management including but not limited to data entry, record keeping, reports, and donor acknowledgments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Has a strong aesthetic instinct for digital layouts and social media images.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of major social media platforms’ tools and distinct uses.
  • Has a passion for communication strategies, results, and analytics.
  • Superior and proven written and verbal communications skills.
  • Has previous successful experience with creating and editing digital content.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively, balance and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Required Education & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably with 2 years of experience in marketing and/or communications.
  • Understanding of marketing, communications, fundraising, and social media best practices.
  • Familiarity with trends and issues pertaining to the early childhood education field.
  • Experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office, web design, digital communications, and CRM donor management software.

Additional Requirements:

  • Has a valid Texas driver's license and proof of current auto insurance.
  • Is fully vaccinated as defined by the CDC against COVID-19.
  • Passes an agency-administered, comprehensive background check satisfactorily.
  • Has access to reliable transportation to travel throughout the metroplex.
  • Is able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
