The Chief Philanthropy and Communications Officer (CPCO) is a key member of Nexus’ c-suite leadership team responsible for all aspects of the organization’s fundraising, marketing and public relations efforts. The CPCO is responsible for leading efforts with the private sector to establish financial sustainability as well as for marketing and communications to a variety of audiences encompassing the philanthropic, healthcare/recovery, civic, and business communities. This position leads and manages the visioning, planning, implementation and evaluation of ongoing, flexible comprehensive fundraising and communications strategies to raise monetary and in-kind support and present Nexus as an expert in its field.
This position carries its own portfolio of major and principal gift donors and provides crucial guidance for the CEO, the Board of Directors, and the Development and Marketing Committees’ fundraising and communications efforts. The CPCO manages and mentors a team of fundraisers and administrative support personnel to foster revenue growth, excellent donor relations, and the successful running of departmental operational systems. This position is also responsible for ensuring Nexus’ outreach is innovative, and its’ messaging to all constituents engaging, consistent across platforms, supports building donor and community relationships, and advances the Nexus mission. The CPCO is also charged with establishing and sustaining best practices related to working with donors and the public as codified in the organization’s governance policies.
REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; advanced degree preferred; Minimum of seven (7) years fundraising experience with at least two (2) years in a senior fundraising position, preferably as the Chief Development Officer, Vice President or Director of Development or similar. Minimum four (4) years’ experience working with non-profit communications and marketing. Proven experience managing cross-functional teams, serving on a senior leadership team, working with boards of directors’ members, donors and volunteers, representing organizations publicly to diverse audiences. Knowledge of donor databases essential as is proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong management skills and unassailable professionalism.
