Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) oversees the Finance and Accounting department and all functions falling within the department. The CFO has responsibility for the overall financial state of the organization. Assists in the development of company policies related to financial and accounting fiscal practices, ensuring effective implementation and compliance. Builds trusting relations with key partners and stakeholders and acts as a point of contact for stakeholders. Analyzes problematic situations and occurrences, produces forecasts, and provides solutions to ensure company financial stability and growth. Prepares financial reporting for the Board of Directors, FAC, C-Level executives and keeps them informed of financial risks to the organization.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

· Upholds the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Marketplace Chaplains in day-to-day activities.

· Oversees, directs, plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates the financial programs and supporting information systems including budgeting, invoicing, receipt of revenue, expenditure of funds, vendor relations, and conservation of assets.

· Approves, coordinates, and implements changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems. Fully utilizes current financial, accounting, and management information platforms to their fullest potential.

· Provides overall leadership and direction to the organization's finance and accounting operations. Develops and reviews key performance indicators, metrics and reports to devise solutions or improvements. Makes quality decisions to advance the business and ensure the fiscal health of the organization.

· Assists in the administration and development of benefits and benefits proposals, negotiations with insurance carriers and external contractors, and administration of contracts or other agreements involving employee benefits.

· Oversees payroll administration and ensures compliance with applicable wage and hour regulations, and effective and compliant payroll administration.

· Oversees the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates, pay/salary band maintenance, ledger and account maintenance and data entry, ensuring compliance with state, and federal policies and regulations, while maintaining appropriate internal control safeguards. Develops, interprets, implements, and coordinates finance, accounting, billing, account receivables, and auditing procedures.

· Oversees the preparation of budgets, financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports; presents recommendations for programmatic and fiscal changes.

· Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement. Ensures the development, implementation, and compliance of organizational policies and procedures.

· Ensures records systems are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. Masters Degree in accounting, Certified Public Accountant; 5 years’ experience in a leadership role overseeing finance, accounting and/or payroll. Experience in developing profitable strategies and implementing a vision.

  1. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preparing budgets, conducting analyses.
  2. Knowledge and understanding of policies, federal and state regulations as they apply to security, privacy, intellectual property, and information system management.
  3. Ability to supervise and train assigned staff and/or lead cross-functional teams.
  4. Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy with diverse groups; ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships while providing exceptional customer service. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues. Skills and knowledge to provide strategic guidance and counsel in the assessment and development of existing and/or proposed practices and systems.
  5. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate and interact effectively with leadership, colleagues, chaplains, employees, and visitors. Demonstrated experience in a fast paced, high-volume environment.
  6. Demonstrated skill in working independently and completing assignments with minimal supervision. Must effectively prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely and accurate manner under pressure of deadlines, and with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. Must be able to adjust priorities quickly, multitask and have excellent organizational skills.
  7. Demonstrated skill in analyzing information to define and follow up on issues or objectives. Ability to identify solutions and solve problems.
  8. Demonstrated computer proficiency using Google Suites, Microsoft Office/365, or other equivalent software, internet, email messaging, and web-based software applications.
  9. May be required to travel for business purposes.

11. Must have an active state driver’s license and state minimum auto insurance.

 

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional air-conditioned office environment with exposure to fluorescent and LED lighting as well as VDT illumination. Noise levels are low to moderate.

 

Conditions of Employment

Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

This role is not eligible for remote work, telecommuting, virtual or home-based work.

 

Physical Demands

· Ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. at a time.

· Ability to sit for extended periods, sometimes up to 3 ½ hours at a time.

· Ability to make repetitive substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, arms, and/or fingers.

· Ability to communicate in written or verbal modalities to serve the internal and external customer.

· Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, walk, stand, and move about intermittently throughout the day to retrieve documents and collaborate with others.
