Mission: Mi Escuelita Preschool teaches English language and early learning skills to children
from all cultures and prepares them for academic success. We strive to have children that are

Position Summary: Support from the community is vital to the success of the Mi Escuelita
program. Financial support is obtained from the federal and state government, private
contributions from individuals, corporations, organizations, United Way, foundation grants,
fundraisers and parent-paid tuition. The organization has a very active board and marketing is
done both in-house and with the aid of pro bono work in the community. The Chief
Development Officer is responsible for fundraising, events, communications, grant writing and
works with a staff that includes a grant writer, volunteer coordinator, graphic designer and an
administrative assistant that support the administration and development department.
 Strong understanding of DFW education ecosystem a plus
 Existing relationships with existing local donors and corporations committed to early
childhood education
 Driven by opportunity for executive growth
 Exhibits entrepreneurial spirit by taking initiative and actively seeking to deepen current
donor relationships and forge new ones.
 Establish a strong culture of philanthropy within the organization, working alongside
individuals from the entirety of the organization
 Self-starter that displays high level of creativity, judgment, initiative and competence
 Creates win/win strategies and responds positively to stakeholders
 Possess positive interpersonal, leadership and team building characteristics
Qualifications and Experience
 Strong commitment to Mi Escuelita’s mission, vision and values.
 BA/BS in communications, public affairs, marketing, business or related field
 At least 5 year’s experience in a non-profit development leadership role
 Ability to segment donors and cultivate major donors
 CFRE and bilingual preferred
 Experience implementing or utilizing new technologies to progress volunteer and donor

Management and Administrative
 Oversee ongoing development efforts and supervise development staff
 Maintain/improve robust donor base using eTapestry
 Strategic planning and implementation
 Help develop and work with development and marketing related committees comprised
of board and community members
Fund Development
 Establish performance measures, monitor results and evaluate the efficiency of the fund
development program
 Capital campaign
 Annual fund drive
 Special event planning and implementation
 Donor cultivation and follow up
 Appreciation and recognition of donors
 Proposal writing in conjunction with CEO and development staff
 Oversee stewardship and donor services program
Community Development
 Supervise utilization and cultivation of volunteers
 Willingness to work events/network during evenings and some weekends
Communication and Public Speaking
 Networking and linking to support groups
 Ability to create powerful, compelling written and oral communications
 Power to convey complex ideas through simple, straight-forward means
 Make formal and informal presentations
 Marketing via traditional sources and utilizing social media
 Media sponsorship
 Create newsletters, brochures, annual report and marketing material
