Location: Camp Fire Resource Center, 2700 Meacham Blvd, Fort Worth TX 76137

In-Person/Virtual: 2 days per week in person, 3 days per week remote work option (after initial onboarding period)

Reports To: President & CEO

FLSA Status: Exempt

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Regular/Temporary: Regular

Compensation Package: 115,000 - $125,000; Plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical and dental insurance, supplemental insurances, company paid LTD & Life, 7 paid holidays, 1 floating holiday, week-long closure in December, PTO and personal leave for employees working 30+ hours, and a 401(k) retirement savings plan including a company match

Start Date: On or before March 13

Job Summary: Under the minimal supervision of the President & CEO, the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) will lead a high-performance team of development, marketing and volunteer management professionals. The CAO will provide leadership and oversight for fund development activities, community engagement, marketing and volunteer management. This senior level position requires a highly organized, goal-oriented, results-driven professional who can interact successfully with the organization’s leadership to determine and accomplish annual objectives.

 

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Funds Development
  • Experience in the following areas of cultivation, acquisition and stewardship:
    • Major Gifts cultivation
    • Annual Giving
    • Special Events
    • Corporate Gifts
    • Foundation Gifts
  • Knowledge of the Tarrant County philanthropic and non-profit communities
  • Basic knowledge of integrated marketing and communications
  • Some experience in media relations and public speaking
  • Track record of supervising staff and volunteers
  • Experience in budget development and management
  • Advanced computer skills: Microsoft365 and Adobe

 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Fundraising experience for a non-profit with at least $2 million annual fundraising goal
  • Raisers’ Edge NXT experience
  • Planned giving experience
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CFRE highly preferred
  • APR certification a plus (not required)

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to use office equipment including copiers, computers and telephones
  • Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers, staff and donors
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work weekends and evening

The Chief Advancement Officer will lead a 10-person team:

  • Director of Development
  • Director of Marketing
  • Grants Manager
  • Volunteer Services Manager

  • Special Events Coordinator
  • Development Specialist
  • Multimedia Storyteller

The CAO will work closely with the President & CEO, the Board of Directors, and the following committees:

  • Fund Development Committee (BOD)
  • An Artists’ Christmas Committee
  • El Tesoro de la Vida Benefit Dinner Committee
  • Finance Committee (BOD)

In addition, the CAO will collaborate biweekly with the Executive Team and quarterly with the Staff Leadership Team:

  • Chief Financial Officer
  • VP of Early Education
  • VP of Youth Development
  • VP of Outdoor/Facilities
  • Executive Assistant
  • Teens in Action Program Director
  • School Readiness Program Director
  • Diamond Hill Station Site Director
  • Senior Director of Professional Development
  • Senior Director of Afterschool Programs
  • Camp El Tesoro Site Director
  • Day Camp Director/Outdoor Education Coordinator
  • Early Education Apprenticeship Program Director
  • Camp El Tesoro Camp Director

Finally, this role will successfully interact and steward relationships with the philanthropic community of Tarrant County, current and prospective and donors, members of the media and marketing and public relations experts.

 

Accountability:

This position is responsible for raising a minimum of $2M in funds annually and managing the organizational brand.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Generate Financial Support

  • Manage process of securing funds for programs and capital needs through proposals and/or requests to foundations, corporations and individuals
  • Oversee the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of new and existing donor relationships
  • Oversee the process of writing proposals/requests, approvals, submissions, acknowledgements, and reports (primarily handled by the Grants Manager)
  • Oversee the acknowledgement of gifts and stewardship best practices with the Development Team
  • Manage a personal donor portfolio

Major Gifts/Donor Relations

  • Collaborate with staff and board execute to continually improve the donor stewardship program.
  • Manage Major Gifts, set meetings and follow ups, including CEO and/or program VPs
  • Research major gift donor prospects.
  • Grow relationships with major gift donors.
  • Coordinate program site visits and stewardship meetings with major donors, planned giving prospects (current and future) and board members
  • Grow Planned Giving program

Staff Supervision

  • Participate in defining development and marketing staff duties and goals
  • Define and measure results and provide feedback through the appraisal process on a regular basis
  • Clarify expectations, methods, reporting process, and deadlines
  • Meet regularly as a team to coordinate planning and implementation of goals

Board & Committee Development

  • Become acquainted with board membership, coordinating all efforts with the CEO and leadership team
  • Plan progression of volunteer leadership
  • Assist in staffing the Board of Directors, attending meetings and providing input in the orientation of new board members re: funds development
  • Contribute to the development and support of volunteers of the Council through work with the Vice-Chairman for Funds Development and the Funds Development Committee

Marketing

  • Oversee the development and implementation of the organization's IMC strategies
  • Organize and evaluate tactical effectiveness and ROI
  • Evaluate effectiveness of organizational and program marketing tactics
  • Guide advertising buys and sponsorships process
  • Increase participation in fee-based programs and fundraising efforts of organization

Website

  • Ensure brand image is consistent among all website pages.
  • Act as liaison between Camp Fire staff and website design/maintenance provider
  • Oversee council marketing strategies using electronic media and social networking tools

Public/Media Relations

  • Plan and direct media relations programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image for the organization.
  • Develop and implement media plans, releases and PSAs.
  • Guide and edit press releases & feature stories.
  • Oversee crisis communication plan and implementation.
  • Direct editorial direction of council communications (newsletters, emails, appeals, campaigns, ads, etc.)
  • Serve as Council spokesperson when appropriate.
