Overview
In 2019, Southwest Christian School (SCS) will celebrate 50 years of providing a quality Christian education to thousands of students in southwest Fort Worth. The school was formed by a group of mothers with a common bond and values, and that mission continues today. Serving over 800 students on two campuses, SCS strives to provide excellent academics in a distinctly Christian atmosphere to create responsible men and women servant leaders.

To meet the needs of the students and faculty today, the school is embarking on a $10 million capital expansion of the upper school campus with the Center for Christian Leadership. The new Center will help create an environment more suited to advanced studies and unlock the entire campus for greater collaboration in a cross disciplinary setting. The campaign is estimated to require two-and-one half years of fundraising activities to reach the $10 million goal. The Campaign Manager at SCS will work closely with the Associate Head of School and other members of the administrative team to coordinate all activities related to the daily management of the campaign.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Associate Head of School and Head of School with implementation of the school’s Campaign Plan to help reach fundraising goals.
  • Schedule and attend all Campaign Committee meetings and one-on-one meetings with volunteers and prospects, as required to maintain campaign momentum.
  • Work with communications staff to assist with the development of all campaign collateral, including the Case for Support, visuals, graphics and printed materials.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications plan for the campaign.
  • Manage data entry for the moves management process to track cultivation and solicitation.
  • Establish donor stewardship steps for each pledged donor and work with the Database Coordinator to manage data entry into the donor stewardship database.
  • Write funding proposals, supporting documentation, and other fundraising correspondence.
  • Issue regular progress reports on results to date, recent activity, priority contacts, and next actions.
  • When and where appropriate set up and/or attend solicitation calls, assist in the solicitation or directly solicit campaign prospects.
  • Assist with identification and training of key leadership for the school and all Campaign initiatives.
  • Assist the Capital Campaign Committee with all support aspects of the campaign, including proposal writing, campaign reports, acknowledgments, stewardship, campaign communications, committee planning and meeting management and documentation.
  • Manage the pledge/gift receiving, receipting, acknowledgment and donor recognition processes.
  • Direct and conduct appropriate and ethical prospect research: screening, rating and assignments.
  • Provide support for all campaign activities and special events.
  • Manage the campaign fundraising timetable and budget.

Experience

  • A successful track record for at least five years in the field of development, with demonstrable experience in the capital campaign process, including but not limited to individual fundraising, major gifts, foundation grants, communications and special events.
  • A history of building and sustaining volunteer support.
  • Ideally, experience overseeing the development of marketing materials.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Well-developed social skills and the ability to forge strong personal relationships.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of development including an understanding of development process i.e., major gift solicitation techniques, direct mail and donor appeals.
    Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferably in a communications, business or liberal arts related field
  • Required Knowledge: Knowledge of fundraising process including code of ethics, grant making and receiving policy, marketing and communications process, understanding of fundraising software (preferably Raiser’s Edge), working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet understanding, research ability.
