Strategic Planning 101

Strategic planning is an essential process to examine your organization’s mission, vision and values as well as long term goals, strategies and action plans to reach them. In this seminar, we will detail the steps towards a successful strategic plan, what a good strategic plan is (and is not) and best practices to both build and execute a strategic plan.

 Learning Objectives:

After attending this workshop you will:

  • Know the importance of having a strategic plan or conducting a strategic planning process
  • Understand the building blocks of a strategic plan
  • Be able to conduct a strategic planning process
  • Be aware of pitfalls to strategic planning and how to avoid them

Whitney Strauss

In her role at Sunwest Communications, Whitney works directly with the nonprofit and corporate social responsibility division team to expand services including strategic planning, fund development planning and process management focusing on civic projects, corporate social responsibility impact, foundations and nonprofit organizations.

Prior to Sunwest, Whitney has had an extensive background in nonprofit and corporate social responsibility leadership including roles at the AdvoCare Foundation, March of Dimes, Greenhill School, Lockheed Martin, Dallas Regional Chamber and U.S. Department of Education.

In addition, Whitney is also a published children’s book author of the series “My Sweet Child Born in….”.

Whitney currently serves on the Board of Directors for TexProtects, The Concilio and Texas Ballet Theater. She and her family are also very involved with the North Texas Food Bank raising funds and awareness for the Food 4 Kids program and Stop Hunger Capital Campaign.

The Dallas Business Journal and the Dallas Furniture Bank have awarded Whitney the top 40 under 40. She was also awarded the Community Servant of the Year by HOBY North Texas.
