Strategic Leadership

Beyond managing a donor-centered fundraising program is the leader’s ability to be strategic.  A strategic leader can express a strategic vision for their organization, project or specific area of influence and motivate others to acquire that vision. Developing a culture of philanthropy for an organization requires strategic thinking that will further fundraising outcomes through cross functional teamwork – a necessary component for transformational organizational growth. In this course we’ll explore the attributes of strategic leadership and discuss how to develop a team that thinks strategically along with its leader.   

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the traits, characteristics, features and qualities of a strategic leader 
  • Understand how to motivate employees to forecast organizational needs within their area of influence 
  • Articulate how to tie the leader’s strategy to organizational strategy

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Clint Riley, MBA

Clint Riley was named M. Gale & Associates’ Campaign Director in 2021. He has spent the majority of his career in arts, culture and education. Prior to joining M. Gale as an Associate in 2019, Clint was President and CEO of Texas Center for Arts + Academics. He has also served in positions with The Santa Fe Opera, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, Dallas Theater Center, and Dallas Black Dance Theatre. Clint holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in mixed-media printmaking from the College of Santa Fe and he received his MBA from Cox School of Business and his MA in Arts Management from Meadows School of the Arts, both affiliated with Southern Methodist University. Clint completed a certificate in Nonprofit Board Consulting from BoardSource and is a Texas Education Agency-approved provider of Board and Officer training for public charter schools. He and his wife currently reside in Benbrook, Texas.
