Introduction to Program Evaluation

July 9 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Program evaluation is a systematic, data-driven review of a program within an organization designed to: (1) answer questions about program effectiveness and efficiency, (2) ensure program activities are connected to the organization’s strategic goals, and (3) provide information that helps increase an organization’s ability to fulfill its mission. Program evaluation allows program staff, and other stakeholders, to make evidence-based decisions. Organizations can choose to evaluate for a number of reasons, including: determining whether program goals have been met, refining programs to improve overall effectiveness, and enhancing promotion and marketing of a program to the public. In this seminar, which is designed for individuals with no prior knowledge of program evaluation, we will share information that will outline the purpose of a program evaluation, the steps to conducting an effective evaluation, and offer practical guidelines for people looking to conduct program evaluations within their organizations.

After attending this seminar you will be able to:

  • Understand basic concepts and principals of a program evaluation
  • Identify all components of the program evaluation cycle
  • Create a theory of change
  • Make a plan to implement an evaluation in their organization
