Building a Culture of Philanthropy in Your Organization

November 17, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

A culture of philanthropy is an organizational culture where everyone in an organization understands the importance of philanthropy and has a role in encouraging it. From the receptionist to direct service providers (insert teachers, docents or another appropriate word within the context of your nonprofit) to the executive leader and board members, everyone has a role to play in influencing philanthropic support for the organization. This session will help you assess your organization’s culture of philanthropy and find ways to increase it throughout the organization.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand “textbook” definitions of a culture of philanthropy and how they apply to your organization, given its size
  • Discover how accounting, program/direct service, volunteers, and your leadership can help strengthen philanthropic support for the mission and how the development officer can engage them all in his/her work
  • Identify steps you can take to help encourage a culture of philanthropy in your organization.

Social Worker CEU Credits: 2 hours
