Grant Readiness: A Basic Guide to Grant Preparation

Are you a new grant writer and don’t know where to start? When is your nonprofit organization ready to start writing grants? Are you having limited success with grants and need strategies to improve your proposals for funders? Where do you find potential grant funders and what do funders look for in effective proposals?

You will learn how to measure your grant readiness and how to start or enhance your grant efforts using best practices and strategies proven to be successful.

This course is intended for staff and board members of both new and established nonprofits that engage in charitable fundraising activities.

This course will include:

  • Common grant terms
  • Checklist for your organization’s grant readiness
  • Grant research tools
  • Financial and budget basics
  • Communicating with funders
  • Grant resources
  • Ethics, and much more!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Michelle Crim, CFRE

Michelle currently serves as President of Dynamic Development Strategies, LLC and provides interim leadership and strategic fundraising services to nonprofits in the Tarrant County and surrounding areas. Her 20-year career in fundraising and nonprofit management has included roles in both higher education institutions and social service organizations. She received her Certified Fundraising Executive credentials (CFRE) in 2008, is a past president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Fort Worth Metro Chapter and is a 2010 graduate of Leadership Fort Worth.

She serves on numerous nonprofit boards and frequently speaks on a variety of fundraising topics, nonprofit leadership and Down syndrome.
