Emotional Intelligence: “Know Thyself–Your Emotional GPS in Leadership

This session will explore what is means to be emotionally intelligent and how to leverage this resource within us to garner positive relationships. “Know Thyself” is a Greek maxim from centuries ago which was later expanded upon by Socrates who famously taught: “The unexamined life is not worth living.” And now, many centuries later, we use the terms ‘self- awareness’ and ‘emotional intelligence’ to express the same notion of self-knowledge. In this session, participants will examine their own internal identity and self-assess their emotional quotient. They will also explore various leadership scenarios and apply emotional intelligence to generate productive outcomes. Participants will review signs of high emotional intelligence and how to intentionally incorporate those in their leadership style.
- Examine emotional intelligence and its impact on leadership and relationships

Samina has enjoyed 15+ years in leading talent development, the last 5 of which were in the healthcare industry. Recently, she has worked closely with the US Department of Labor, the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration in launching ImPowerQ’s ‘Heroes to Healthcare’ initiative, the only approved apprenticeship program of its kind focused on a transition strategy for healthcare-experienced veterans to acquire meaningful careers in the healthcare industry.
