No Staff? No Problem! How to Build a Marketing Strategy with Limited Resources

We know we need to do more marketing to get more people to know about us but how? We don’t have any staff/funding/time to do it. There are many marketing strategies that can be implemented with little to no resources and leveraging current staff/volunteers. Learn techniques and templates to build and execute a marketing plan that will help cultivate new audiences and steward current supporters.

 Learning Objectives:

  • explore successful marketing strategies
  • work through templates to execute (in class)
  • present on action plan for the next 18-months

 Course Outline:

  • What is a Marketing Plan? (and What is Not?)
  • Easy Marketing Plan Strategies
  • How To Build a Marketing Plan (in class activity)

Program Level: All levels
Prerequisites: Bring current marketing materials from your organization – we will be working on building a marketing plan during the seminar
Instructional Method: Adult In-person classroom
Social Worker CEU Credits: 3 hours

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Whitney Strauss

Whitney has had an extensive background in nonprofit and corporate social responsibility leadership including roles at the AdvoCare Foundation, March of Dimes, Greenhill School, Lockheed Martin, Dallas Regional Chamber and U.S. Department of Education.

Whitney currently serves on the Board of Directors for TexProtects, The Concilio and Texas Ballet Theater. She and her family are also very involved with the North Texas Food Bank raising funds and awareness for the Food 4 Kids program and Stop Hunger Capital Campaign.

Whitney’s has been active in the community for all of her life serving on the boards of the Women’s Museum, Citizen’s Development Center Advisory, Dallas Women’s Foundation, Head Start of Greater Dallas, Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center League, Big Thought, Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce, Texas Business and Education Coalition, Texas Engineering and Technical Consortium, HI-TECC Industry Coalition, North Texas Future Fund and Special Olympics Texas.

She is also a Sustainer member of the Junior League of Dallas and member of the Leadership Dallas Alumni Association.

The Dallas Business Journal and the Dallas Furniture Bank have awarded Whitney the top 40 under 40. She was also awarded the Community Servant of the Year by HOBY North Texas.

Whitney graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science from Texas Christian University and a Masters of Science in Public Service Management from DePaul University. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate at SMU. She is married to Robert Strauss and has two sons, Bobby and Timmy.
