The Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program improves the effectiveness of nonprofit leaders and their organizations through targeted focus on personal leadership development and industry best practices.
The SMU Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program is designed for nonprofit professionals who have demonstrated a high potential for leadership and a willingness to develop their talent for a greater organizational impact. The Nonprofit Leadership Certificate focuses on personal leadership development in an environment that allows you to collaborate and learn with your peers.
The Nonprofit Leadership Certificate program is ideal for candidates who meet the following criteria: participants should have five years of experience in the nonprofit sector, five years of management experience, be an aspiring executive leader who is currently in a senior management position and/or a first-time or new Executive Director/CEO.
Key elements of the program
Designed by nonprofit leaders for nonprofit leaders, this program focuses on personal leadership development in an environment that lets you collaborate and learn with your peers. This six-week certificate program teaches industry best practices in:
- Assessing leadership style and building on strengths
- Trust and decision making
- Culture and change management
- Funding, marketing, and strategy
- Building effective Boards
