Desired Industry affiliations or community connections: Prospective members engaged in professions in which accounting, marketing, branding, resource development, fundraising preferred, and policy work.

Primary Age of Population Served: All ages

Financial Contribution Expected of Board Members: TEXAS HOMELESS NETWORK expects to have 100 percent of Board Members make an initial and annual contribution that is commensurate with their capacity.

Designed Term for Board Service: TEXAS HOMELESS NETWORK’s Board Members will serve a three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for an additional term after one year off the board.

Current Schedule for Board Meetings: Board meetings will be held quarterly and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings. Board members make every effort to attend and fully participate in each board meeting on-site at locations scheduled annually.

Board culture: THN Board members work closely with the President/CEO and are participatory in the agency’s significant events throughout the year (Annual Conference, Homelessness Awareness Day) as well as on major initiatives the agency is engaged in (growing homeless crisis response system, data sharing network, agency marketing).

Additional Board Expectations: THN Board members are the trustees who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as making sure THN has adequate resources to advance its mission. While day-to-day operations are led by TEXAS HOMELESS NETWORK’s President and chief executive officer (CEO), the Board-President/CEO relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.
