Dallas Media Collaborative

The Dallas Media Collaborative is a coordinated, city-wide journalism project, using a solutions-focused approach.

Company Information

Solutions journalism focuses on community problems and the responses to them. It works to hold institutions and governments accountable and sets a bar for what citizens should expect from their leaders. Solutions stories, anchored in credible evidence, explain how and why responses are working, or not working.

The Dallas Media Collaborative will launch with coordinated city and county-wide coverage of various aspects of affordable housing, with a commitment to using a solutions-focused approach. The group includes nine media outlets, three colleges and universities, a data think tank and a choral ensemble, all taking guidance from the Solutions Journalism Network. DMC will equip news sites, magazines, radio and student journalists to do together what each can’t do alone because of budget constraints and massive changes in how the news industry is funded.

The ultimate goal is to help all the organizations involved keep our promise to fully inform citizens and encourage civil discourse that leads to civic engagement, ultimately holding the government accountable for its role in supporting solutions.
